Introducing the world’s first fully-integrated, portable motorcycle radar and laser detection system designed for American and Metric Cruisers, Sport, and Touring bikes. No more trying to make automotive radar detectors work with your bike. No more missing the audio or visual alerts. No more searching the earth's ends to find compatible mounts. No more hours of wiring jobs. No more fear of the rain. No more fear of theft. No more microscopic buttons. No more money, energy, sanity and precious riding hours wasted trying to make automotive radar detectors work with your bike.
See It. Hear It.
When zooming down the open road with the wind in your face you can’t hear much and you definitely don't want to take your eyes off the road. That's why Adaptiv developed the Wireless Headset and Visual Alert as critical components of the system. Not just afterthoughts.
The Wireless Headset is compatible with most helmets and it alerts you of detected radar and laser signals through its earphone that sits inside your helmet. With adjustable volume settings, you'll be able to hear the detected signals no matter how loud the ambient noise is.
The Visual Alert can be mounted just about anywhere on your bike so as to be within your peripheral vision. Its bright LED lights flash when radar and laser signals are detected so you don't have to take your eyes off the road. With adjustable brightness settings, you’ll be able to see it even in direct sunlight without being blinded at night. The Wireless Headset and the Visual Alert can also be used at the same time.
Mount It.
Adaptiv has custom mounts constructed from aircraft grade aluminum that fit most of the bikes on the road today. Ride an American Cruiser? Got a mount for you. Metric Cruiser? Got that too. Sportbike? Covered. Touring Bike? Sorry, you are out of luck. Just kidding, we've got that too. What if you've got a third party mount already? There's an adapter for it. TPX Mounts are easy to install and allow for the best possible positioning. Best of all, the mounts look great, just like your bike
What Else?
A lot! The TPX™ System comes with a Wiring Harness so you can easily connect to your bike's power source, making installation a breeze. Its water resistant construction means that you don't have to worry about shielding it from the rain. Large buttons are designed so that you can operate it with riding gloves. Its top positioned, angled, backlit LCD allows you to actually see the display from your riding position, day or night. Vibration and shock resistant design ensures that it'll last on your bike. It is portable so you can take it with you on your lunch stop and don't have to worry about theft. It also means that you can use it on multiple bikes, and even your car (if you have one of those four-wheeled things).
Certified Performance.
All these features are great for motorcycle use, but does it really work? You bet! The TPX System detects ALL police radar and laser bands. But don’t take our word for it. The System is certified by Speed Measurement Laboratories, Inc., the leading independent evaluator of radar detectors in the market today. The System had to go through a rigorous performance evaluation in order to earn this prestigious certification.
Adaptiv TPX Frequent Asked Questions
Are radar and laser detectors legal?
In the United States, radar and laser detectors are legal in passenger vehicles and motorcycles in all states with the exception of Virginia, Washington D.C., and military bases. Radar and laser detectors are illegal in the U.S. in commercial vehicles weighing over 10,000 lbs. In Canada, radar and laser detectors are legal in the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.
How well does the TPX Motorcycle Radar and Laser System perform?
The TPX System has been performance certified by Speed Measurement Laboratories, Inc. Speed Measurement Laboratories is an independent laboratory that specializes in the testing of radar and laser detectors. It is regarded by many as the foremost expert in the industry. This special certification is only granted to those products that pass a rigorous performance criterion.
How is the TPX System different than other radar detectors?
The TPX is a fully customizable, complete system designed specifically for motorcycles. When used in conjunction with the model specific Mount, Wireless Headset and/or Visual Alert, it safely and effectively alerts you to police radar and laser signals. In addition, its angled LCD, large buttons, and water, vibration, and shock resistant design all add up to a combination of features you won’t find in other radar detector system. Simply put, we’ve thought of everything.
What accessories do I need other than the TPX Main Console?
You will need a Mount. Check out the mount fitment chart to find the appropriate mount for your bike. If you wear a full or open face helmet, we recommend the TPX Wireless Headset. If you don’t wear a full or open face helmet, we recommend the TPX Visual Alert.
If you have an existing communication or audio system that you want to connect the TPX system to, you should contact the manufacturer to determine the appropriate wiring connector. The TPX system provides a 3.5mm mono, female output jack for this purpose.
Can I use the TPX System in more than one motorcycle or in my car?
Yes. The TPX System is designed to be easily removable for use in multiple vehicles. If you want to use the system in another motorcycle, you will need to purchase the appropriate Mount, a TPX Wiring Harness, and a TPX Visual Alert (if you are using one) for each additional bike.
If you want to use the TPX System in a car, you will need to purchase the TPX Automotive Mount. Note that the angled LCD screen is optimized for motorcycle riding positions. While all the features will work in a car, it may be difficult to see the LCD screen when mounted on some dashboards.

My Adaptiv TPX story. Provided a good warning at least 4 times in my last 1200 mile ride. After that ride, I've begun to realize that all a radar detector has to do (I've never even owned one before) is save you from one ticket, just one, and it pays for itself right there.
Bonehead Move #1: We were on Hwy 36 and just runnin' through the curves, good times, takin' it easy really. Hwy 36 near Red Bluff has these sequences of curves and pop-up hills (you can get airborn- seriously), then straights. We came into the straight and I had the bonehead idea to blast on over to the next sequence- which I could see good mile ahead. Dead straight. Busa country. Just as I tuck in to roll on the throttle, put my chin down on the tankbag and the LED Alert goes off. Rolled off and then there he was, CHP with a car pulled over on the very far side of the straight! Whew! Should have known better, that was a classic speed trap plus I was getting close to the end of 140 miles of twisties. Duh.
Next day: We were on Hwy 89 headed towards Truckee & Lake Tahoe. This is classic CHP huntin' grounds. Tim was leading and I radioed ahead to him to be on the lookout for CHP. As we rolled into Sierraville (tiny town), sure enough, detector goes off not minutes after I told Tim to cool it. We made the right 90 degree turn as Hwy 89 rolls through that town & there he was seemingly waiting for cars to roll into this small town from opposite direction. Another classic scenario. Part that I was surprised by is detector picks him up around the 90 degree corner.
On to #3: Headed home after 1200 mles of riding for a quick 50 mile juant on I-80 to switch roads. CHP love I-80 as it has some steep descents dropping out the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I was expecting speedtraps and they were all in very predictable places. I drop in behind the grocery-go-getter in the middle lane. And the dude in the jacked up pickup speeds into the slow lane and blasts past everybody. Sure enough, the Adaptiv radar goes off. There are 3 CHP waiting at the bottom of the hill! One on the left, two on the right. 3 cops! That was open season.
So here's your bonus #4: Right at the very bottom of another of the steep decents. Detector goes off right before I crest the hill and start down. Thanks TPX! Ah, but right as my little wolfpack of cars gets to the bottom, he pulls out and follows. Everyone pulls over to the right and prays. He plods on by TPX is having a field day going off. Must be rear-facing radar gun left on.
So I decided to have a little fun with that and once he gets just to the edge of my line-of-sight, I pull out and follow him leaving the wolfpack behind. No one else seems to want to pursue the CHP. The TPX goes full strength when he's line of sight a good distance off. I match his speed and continue following, the TPX radar, continues going off.
Even when the road had a slight bend to it and I couldn't see him, still got a weak 1 or 2 bar alert. Maybe he's about a 1/2 mile in front of me, far enough to not be too conspicuous, but I can clearly see the Explorer. Road straightens out, back to line of sight, and detector goes full strength. Over small rises, back to 1-2 bars. I followed him for at least 5 miles matching his speed and detector was going off the entire 5+ mile stretch beepin' and flashin'.
