Good eats if crossing Nevada on I-80
In Winnemucca the other day, I stumbled onto an off-the-beaten path restaurant called the Martin Hotel. The building harkens back to 1898 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The food and the service was outstanding and Basque seating made strangers into friends because of the conversations that just naturally began to occur.
If you can't avoid I-80 traveling west (or east) this makes for a good place to stop. :) It is about 5 blocks south (up the hill) from the...

HWY 175 - Lake County Eating, Middletown & Cobb, CA
175 at Middletown there is Mt. St. Helena brewery. Pizza is good there. They also have a lot of different rib/wing plates.
At the top of Cobb Mountain on 175 take a right turn at Golf Dr. and there is a restaurant called Rob Roys. There isn't a sign, but it is the only parking lot on the left side of the road within 200 yards of the main hwy. They have a lot of good stuff there.
From there, you can count the number of turns from Cobb to Hopland and beyond.

Riverview lounge & restaurant, Three Rivers, Ca
Great burgers and other items on menu, large cups of hot java. Pretty good looking bar. A patio just feet from the Kaweah River will keep ya spellbound while waiting for your order, which will arrive timely. Great place if heading up Hwy 198 to Sequoia Park. Friendly servers.

High Hand Conservatory
I've been there 3 times for lunch in the last year. Never been disappointed. Prices are a little high, but the food and atmosphere is exceptional. Some of the vegetables and herbs are from their own garden.

CharlieBrownFarms.com Bar-B-Q....One Awesomely Freaky Place
This is definetly a new destination to hit up for the best damn Texas style barBq in the high desert.
Saturday I had an amazing ride from Big Tujunga to Angeles Forest Hwy and then on to Mt. Emma Rd and we stopped at a town called Little Rock on the 138 (Pearlblossom Hwy).
Charlie Browns is so - so much more than amazing food. Its got wild game meats, hand made chocolates, all sorts of crazy toys, candies, hot sauces and toys from your child hood as well as local grown produce...

Emma Jean's Holland Burger Cafe~Victorville CA
This Point of Historical interest has been featured on that Guy guy's diner show, and briefly, ever so briefly in Kill Bill 2 (don't blink) with Uma Thurman.
Basic "truckstop" fare, but in a good way and always busy with travellers and locals alike.

Talkin' Burgers
One of my favorite rides for a burger is what I call the "Stoneyford/Sutter Buttes" ride. This is a beautiful ride through the Capay Valley along Hwy. 16 past Cache Creek and then east on Hwy. 20. Take Sites Lodago Rd. through Stoneyford and head north to Elk Creek. East on Hwy. 162 to the city of Willows and lunch at www.thelaststandupbar.com The Last Stand Up is a fun place with great food and awesome prices. If you have a group and call ahead, they will set the back room up...
