Hidden Gems of Southern Indiana
2 Attachment(s) Hidden Gems of Southern Indiana

Hidden Gems of Southern Indiana – The Unabridged Version I finally got it together – the unabridged version of my three-day ride through southern Indiana last weekend. Some of the pictures are repetitions from my previous posts about the same trip, but I thought it would be interesting to see how the pictures of the road, the barns, and the cars all fell in together. With only one or two exceptions, all the pictures here are posted in the same sequence they were taken. I’d been... Read more

Going Bald over the Sierras - Leaving the Rubber on Sonora and Ebbetts Passes

A day trip over Hwy 108, eastbound across Sonora Pass, then back via the awesome Hwy 4, westbound over Ebbetts Pass - where the remaining rubber on my rear tire was scrubbed to a delicious nothingness.

Sea Fever - An August Coastal Trip
Sea Fever - An August Coastal Trip
Rob Wilson

A Note from the Editor: With 40 years’ riding experience you might expect someone to take in stride an opportunity to ride. Newer riders, I can relate on good authority, view an impending multi-day ride like the approach of Christmas Eve. So it speaks volumes to read about a veteran’s anticipation and fresh perspectives when granted a few free days to explore on a trusted pair of wheels. Rob’s telling of his trip in August reads a bit like a summer vacation’s journal, rife... Read more

Fresno to Laguna

A circuitous adventure on an Aprilia RSV R

The Plan: Since I usually take 198 to Carmel Valley road to get to Laguna, why not mix it up and take some of these other wonderful roads I've been reading about lately? Relying on the AAA central coast map, I drew a very squiggly line which started at the 99, 180, J1, New Idria Road, Clear Creek Road, Los Gatos Road, Coalinga, 198, 25 G13, G15, G16, G20, then to arrive at Laguna Seca. Well I'll tell you straight off, AAA LIES! They draw lines where only turkey trails exist!!! Thank you AAA! ... Read more

I'll be back!!! (Trinity, Humboldt, & the Lost Coast)
I'll be back!!! (Trinity, Humboldt, & the Lost Coast)

You know, there are just some places that make you say "I'll Be Back!", to borrow an oft-used phrase from one of our more famous Californians. For me, one of those places is California's "Lost Coast" region. Since first touring the area in May 2004 while attending the Sport Touring Net West Coast Regional Meet in Fortuna, I'd felt an almost magnetic force drawing me back, seducing me into exploring all those little nooks and crannies that are nothing but a blur when you zip... Something A Bit Different- Goa on the Arabian Sea
2 Attachment(s) Something A Bit Different- Goa on the Arabian Sea

With the sunny beaches of Goa just across the Arabian Sea, I made this my target for a quickie visit. I arranged for the rental of a bike via the internet and upon my arrival in Goa, my hosts were waiting for me at the airport. A one hour trip through a maze of Goan roads led us to the home base. A sort of biker's country club for Europeans visiting Goa. Now, mind you, while in Goa, there's a wide variety of two wheelers you can choose from. there's the modern Honda Hero single... Read more

Scratching an Itch...
5 Attachment(s) Scratching an Itch...

The "itch" began like a quiet, subconscious thought in the back of my mind. It began after I returned home from the hospital with my family, including the newest member. When things settled down, and the visitors began to come and go less frequently I started to think about the bike again. By then, it had been about a week since I had even fired it up. That itch was getting stronger. I knew my opportunity to ride would be very limited, though, as my wife was recovering from a... Read more

Idaho to Oregon to Idaho on Two Wheeled Submarines
Idaho to Oregon to Idaho on Two Wheeled Submarines

Hmm.. ride report. I guess I will. A wee bit of background first. Last year I decided that at age 44, it was time for my mid-life crisis. I've been through a lot, and I think I deserve one. :crazy I mentioned this to my friend John. He's older still, and realized that he hadn't taken the time to have a mid-life crisis yet either. So I put forth my idea of getting back into motorcycles. I hadn't ridden in a looong time, and I had the itch. (In fact, I get the itch every spring, but... Read more
