Hi Nancy: You gave me some weather advice on my last California post. I'll be in Palm Springs at the beginning of February and want to do a day trip. I'm thinking of doing the loop around Borrego Springs, Ranchita and Julian. As well I'd like to do Palomar Mtn. Is Palomar going to have snow at that time? Any other suggestions about roads that would not be too high or too washed out that time of year? I've been through Joshua Tree and up the Palm to Pines, so would like something else and the Anza Borrego Desert looks terrific again.
Sweet 400...I love those!!!
That's really sweet of you Nancy.
We didn't ride Breckenridge Rd. this time because 23S16 was so nice. We must have been right behind you Sunday Nancy. We had lunch in the campground at Kennedy Meadows about 2:30 and then down to 395 where we split with the rest of the group at the 14. Dee and I took Angeles Forest Hwy to Angeles Crest and down to the 210 and home. Wish we could have bumped into you. I heard you and Walt on the SidestandUp online radio program. Really Cool! I asked that Question about that type of braking in the corners. Can't remember what you call it now(trail braking?) but I'll know what it is next time I hear it>
We did go over Sherman Pass on Sunday. Friday we rode all the way to Springville on 190 - what a spectacular road!! On Sunday, we turned around and rode back on it to Sherman Pass. We were in Kennedy Meadows around 1 pm then on to 395 and back over the Angeles Forest and Crest. Unfortunately, I lost my camera in Sequoia - and I had some great pics of the Tehachapi Look with a train going around it!
I'll have to look at 23S16 on my Benchmark map.
We never did ride Breckenridge Road. Saturday we rode up past Johnsondale and on over to Camp Nelson. Then we backtracked to forest service road 23S16 and took that all the way to the 155. What a great road! Sunday we rode over Sherman Pass and came down 395. I have about 100 pictures that I am going to start sorting thru tonight and hopefully have a ride report on Pashnit this weekend. Did you ride over Sherman Pass?
Welcome to the Fun Zone Nancy !!
Poke around and enjoy - you'll meet some really great people here, not to mention all the great info & pictures. Tim has built a fantastic site. See you & Walt soon, Bruce
