I took an "exploration" toward Graniteville. In error, I missed the turn to Malakoff Diggins (Humbug, Ca), coming from Hwy 49/Tyler Foot Road. The road is washboard gravel and is not meant for cruisers. Dirt bikers or enduro riders would be estatic on this run. Serene, green and zen inspiring for late Spring, all Summer and early Autumn rides (snow in Winter). If one were to continue past Graniteville, eastward, Bowman Lake is the next scenic stop. A turn onto Bowman Lakes Road pins you scenically back to Hwy 20 and then westward back to Nevada City/Hwy 49. A continuance eastward around Bowman Lake takes a jaunt past Jackson Meadows Reservoir to Henness Pass/Weber Lake Road and onward to Hwy 89. At Hwy 89, a left turn loops to Sierraville/Sattley/Hwy 49 back to Downieville, through Bassetts and Sierra City.

I am looking for journal notes, or any comments about Hwy 49, specifically from the Yuba county line up to the summit around Downieville CA. I am working on a report about California's scenic byways and would love to find some info that the citizens of Downieville can benefit from.
