I need to ride down there and see Wayne for the tour...maybe when it is time for the jacket. Wayne strikes me (via the phone) as an OCD type when it comes to protective gear. Ain't that just what you want when having a custom riding suit built? Kind of like my father inlaw who is a retired dental lab tech. When that dude made hardware for your mouth, it was as perfect as it could possibly be. Fussed over the impressions sent by dentists, he would actually go in to give them lessons if they began to slip from his lofty standards. Wayne, if you are reading this, I mean OCD in only the best light...really! :D Don't want my next gear to be a torture contraption. |

More like a bad case of being near sighted (left the coke bottle glasses at home) I'm thinking...but your theory is a good one Bob. :nod

Re: Motoport gear.
So, Mark how did your gloves fare in your crash a few weeks back? Any torn seams etc? AND how are you doing? Pain under control? Insurance $ moving along ok?

The pants and gloves are structrually sound enough to use today. No seam separation that I saw. There is some scuff marks and the pants will be sent to Motoport for inspection/repair/alteration. The insurance has already cut a check for gear and bike damage. I will get the Ultra II kevlar mesh jacket (my Alpinestars jacket was toast before it was cut off) and a new full face. Prolly should move my sore self to the garage and post up some pics eh?
All I got from the crash is a broken clavicle (I believe the Alpinestars armor is responsible for that), bruised ribs, and a torn thumb nail. Not a single scratch anywhere else. The first pic is a sad attempt to show the scuffed off plastic portions of the glove. The next are the damage to the pants. All are IMHO completely good to go right now. |

Re: Motoport gear.
Wow! thanks for the pictures. I sure hope you heal well fast. The jacket looks to have been torn-up alot more then the pants. Thanks again for the info. I am seriously thinking of ordering some gloves this week.

Re: Motoport gear.
I ordered mine yesterday. I hope to never use them on the street, but If I do it should be better then leather. Thanks Mark for the heads-up on this product.

Re: Motoport gear.
Does anyone own their Stretch Kevlar matereal? I have heard that the AirMesh Kevlar is very stiff, but the stretch kevlar is the thinnest, lightest, most comfortable yes even more protective (based on the chart they have).

Re: Motoport gear.
Dana,
I've got the air mesh kevlar pants and jacket. They do start out a little stiff, but mine are breaking in nicely. Got about 2800 miles on them. One nice thing about the whole outfit is the temperature range - with all liners in I've ridden at 38 degrees without being too cold; last weekend with no liners it hit 97 degrees and it wasn't bad - as long as you are moving along at a good speed. I don't think you can buy better textile gear than this right now. |
