SV 1000 naked? - Who knows about this bike?
 

First of all I would like to say hi. I'm new to the forum, but have been following the pashnit web page for a couple of years now.

I am looking for a street bike to enhance my DR-Z, and am looking at a SV1000 naked bike. Any issues with these bikes? Feel free to let me know the good, the bad and the ugly on these. I live in Humboldt county so I will be keeping the DR-Z for all the dirt roads and trails we have here. BTW if you think there is a lot of riding here for a sport bike, bring a dual sport and I can take you to place you wouldn't believe. Oh yea, average rider, and I ride within the speed limit .... well most of the time so I dont need the fastest animal on the planet.

John- Congrats!! Looks then like that was your inaugural ride. Post some more pics of the bike and tell us all how the acclimation is going!!. :2thumbsup

For 05' they're only selling the 1000S flavor of the SV, right?

The regular SVs look nice but seem half finished with only the upper fairing on the S versions.

Correct. 2003 was the only year they sold the Naked version in the US. It is still available in Europe. The diffrence between the two bikes is the faring and
the S version has clip on handle bars and naked version has regular bars so the seatin position is a little diffrent. There are a couple of other minor diffrences, but I can't remember what.

Ya, from what I've heard it's a good bike. I guessit's kind of torquey. the guy i was talking to said he could pop it up on wheelies real easily. but..you know guys say stuff like that.
anyway, my buddy has a sv650s and that's a real nice bike. that particular bike doesn't have enough power for me, but he likes it a LOT. and it's comfortable.

i was looking into the 1000 for a little while until i found what i ultimatly bought, Yamaha Fz1. It's been a real good bike and i'd recomend looking into it as well.
