Hey everybody....What's it like to ride the California coast in the winter time, say from the Northern state line South. I've got to get out and ride these roads I've been looking at, and right now it is raining here in Washington, (big surprise) LOL. I also think every Hayabusa has a gremlin under the gas tank, yelling "let me out and let's go".

Weather can be variable and hard to predict. Could be dry and clear or wet and windy. As Dirty Harry said: "Are you feelin' lucky?"

One of my favorite all-time rides was from Mill Valley (10 miles North of San Fran) out to Pt. Reyes Station and then to Mendocino--done on January 1st. Sunny, bright, calm. It was chilly in the morning (low 40s), but comfortable (60s) from 10:30 to 4:30.

I wouldn't hesitate to plan a trip in SoCal in Jan, Feb, March. These months can be very beautiful, with green hills, and air temps in the 50s and 60s. We do usually get some rain, but it's hard to predict. We could have a whole month without rain in January, or it could be wet and cloudy for half the time.

March is a pretty safe bet.

Tim, I was thinking that your photos always look best whenever there
is a bike included, until I looked at the last one with the road snaking
up into the green hills; that one is A-OK as-is (although an RC-51 screaming
up the hill would be ok too!).

Tim...I did bicycle out there last week. You better be in shape 'cuz its no casual pedal. Lots of uphill, and the downhill past the tunnel is a real brake pad burner. It is spectacular though...every turn presents a new view. And the massage at the end of it all was great!

Thanks Roger, Bolinas Ridge Rd is one of my all time favorite photos! In Spring, it really is that green! And to the right of this photo is 180 degree panorama of the Pacific Ocean! :lala

These maps and pictures are great. I have spent hours on your site preparing for my month long trip to the states, every time I look there is something new to get excited about. Just can't wait to make a start. Thank you Pashnit. Colin
