I think it is paved. If it is the road I am thinking of it is the old hwy 101 and is paved and a very nice ride. I could be wrong however.

Where is the road specifically. Is it in Humboldt county, near what town? I probably know the answer, but many of the roads here are not marked and I don't know the name. Is it near Alder point?

Instead of going by Ruth, turn just past Dinsmore at the forest service station and go to Zenia that way. all paved and a nice ride. Check out this ride report from a couple years back.

There is actually a nice motel in weaverville. It isn't fancy but is clean and quiet. I stayed there once when winter blizzard hit and I got stuck there overnight.

Not necessarly. First find a bike that fits you. second what kind of riding are you going to do? I like back curvy roads so something bigger is not better but in fact probably more of a hinderance...

I bought a 1200R a couple of weeks ago. I am blessed with a good local dealer. Go for the 1200 if you think you might upgrade later. If you are looking at used the 2004 and up are rubber mounted....
