Re: GPS whats everyone using?

You try navigating a 240 mile, preplanned back roads route across France with 240 junctions along roads that don't appear on maps with a scale greater than 1:200,000, through towns and cities that...

Re: GPS whats everyone using?

Don't know where you read that because the Garmin cable comes designed to attach directly to the battery and has an inline fuse. I ran mine like that all last year without any probs.

Hammer Head2 Re: GPS whats everyone using?

Yes, I started mine at 20:00 an it was finished when I got up next morning. I don't really understand that because, although my broadband is not the quickest at 1Mbs, it was downloading at around...

Re: Off road on street bikes!!? Post 'em if ya got 'em!

Re: What do I need so my Garmin Quest 2 will cover USA?

You need to buy the relevant USA mapping that suits the Quest. It seems http://www8.garmin.com/cartography/mapSource/citynav.jsp that the quest needs "City Navigator 2008". It'll cost you around...

Re: Anyone know Google Earth pretty well?

I can understand Tim's frustration with routing on GE. The only way I've found to highlight a route is to place a "place mark" on the start and finish of your route. Right click on the start and...

Re: Anyone know Google Earth pretty well?

Firstly don't confuse the mapping version with the Mapsource software number. V6.5 must be the mapping because the latest Mapsource software is at 6.13.6 you can down load it free :-...

Re: Need tips for my R100GSPD

That's not my experience.
My advice is to sell it immediately before it turns into a money pit. I bought a '92 R100GS with 11500 miles and rode it for a further 52000 miles and I had to get the...

Re: Sat. 2/ 8/08 What a day

Believe it or not we're having a few days of clear blue sky in Southern England. Normally it's freezing when that happens this time of year but it's in the high 50's F.
I, too, have been able to...

Re: CA Helmet Law is going down!!!!....

We went through this 30 years ago in Europe....and lost. You will too. Wearing a helmet makes sense. Personally, I've had two crashes where I would either have died or been a vegetable but, thanks to...

Re: Pine Flat Road, Napa, Ca. Revisited

That width of road is pretty standard for minor roads in the UK and Europe. After all, most roads started off as cart tracks and the more heavily used ones got wider because the opposing traffic had...

Re: 2008 Pashnit Calendar is now AVAILABLE !!

We call them "Street fighters" over here. You know, you crash your sports bike and can't afford to repair to original. So you rip the fairing off and put some Renthal bars on and you're back on the...

Re: Idrea ~ Panoche road.

I guess that radiator going (if it was that) was just bad luck. It was extremely hot and I was trickling along with fully loaded saddle bags so there wasn't much air going through the rad. There must...

Re: Idrea ~ Panoche road.

No idea what caused the failure. Wasn't sure at the time that it was the radiator but it was pissing out the water as soon as I topped it up.

I did order a BMW R1200GS but when I got to Eaglerider...

Re: New Garmin 2720

You can still plug them into your bikes electrics you know. Having an internal battery helps when loading up routes indoors.

Idrea ~ Panoche road.

Had a rental KTM950ADV for a couple of days until it blew the radiator. I paticularly enjoyed Clear creek rd. off the Coalinga rd at N36 21 28.8, W120 47 13.5 and the new Idrea rd to Panoche at N36...
