It's almost certainly the switch. The contact surfaces are probably corroded, dirty or just worn. If you can disassemble the switch you can inspect it for these problems . Cleaning it with contact...

This chirp can be eliminated by blipping the throttle briefly when the clutch lever is pulled in immediately before you move the shift lever. It takes some practice to get it...

Ice can be an issue at high elevation. October is definitely a better bet than November. The beginning of the rain season, though not very predictable, usually occurs in November in the north.

My riding buddy Jerry has an SV650. It's a sweet ride.

Not sure what you mean by the "frame" version. Do you mean the one with a fairing or without? I prefer the one without the fairing.

It's mostly highway. The only towns are Ojai and Santa Paula. There are horse and cattle ranches and rural low density residential areas along the middle section.

150 is worth riding, though it's got a lot more traffic than Hwy 33. It goes right through downtown Ojai on the main street. There are traffic lights but it's not too long. You'll also have to...

East Camino Cielo is paved as far as Gibralter Road which drops down the mountain face (more than 3000 feet drop) into Santa Barbara. Gibralter road was paved at one time but the last time I was on...

No. By the way, the answer is "no" regardless of which type of bike you're asking about. Sheeh....Even a chopper can easily handle any curve on a "freeway" at 20mph over the speed limit.
