This was me in the Mojave River last Saturday. It was the first time I had taken it off-highway. Now that I know what it will do, I won't be so hesitant.

Very cool Gene, did you encounter any problems with the bike after that?

Wow!!! That really looked deep. It looked like it your muffler was submerged. I'm surprised you didn't stall when crossing that creek.

The bike did stall out momentarily in the deepest part, mainly, as I found out later, because it was in 2nd gear. It restarted immediately, and I continued on.

I turned into the Afton Canyon campground to use the facilities, and the bike started running rough. I upped the revs, then shut it down by the outhouse. It restarted pretty quickly. I then proceeded out to the highway and an indicated 90mph run the 40 miles into Barstow to my campground. The bike hasn't missed a beat since the dirt road in front of the outhouse.

I think Motorcyclist was right when they called the Wee Strom the most competent motorcycle on the market. --Gene

Hey Gene, how many miles you got on that V-strom now? I just ordered crash bars and skid plate should have em in about 3 weeks, then I will be ready for some adventure riding. I will PM you when I am ready. Ttyl.

I have about 1800 on it now. Up until last week I had only been riding it on weekends. Then the battery in the ST stopped holding a charge, so I commuted on it all last week.

All systems are good. I just bought a fairly lightweight bottom plate to protect the oil filter. It's not a full-on bash plate because I don't plan to ever get it into that much trouble. It's plenty of fun on a dirt road. --Gene

Cool pics. Always wanted to try that on my Strom. The air box is pretty high up so that helps.
