    Introducing my new ride...

New to me, anyways. I looked across California for several weeks for a nice used K BMW, and finally found this one just 3 miles from my home. It's an orient blue 2004 K1200GT purchased from the original owner with less than 3500 miles on the odometer. Perfect condition, completely stock, BMW navigation, really like new. Even the owners' garage was meticulously clean. After looking at, and driving, several near misses, I knew right away this was it.

I really enjoyed my last bike, a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard, which was a relative bargain, but discovered that a cruiser wasn't the optimal ride for someone that likes to head out on a saturday before the kids are up and put on 300 miles and be home for lunch.

I test drove a 2007 K12GT but found the $22k OTT price, although doable, a little hard to stomach considering my once-a-week riding habits. This bike, on the other hand, at 50% of that price, seems like money well spent. It met all my requirements-- like-new condition, sporty but good for long rides with heated everything for cool mornings, good wind protection, hard bags, and powerful but not a boy-toy-- an understated rocketship that doesn't draw unwanted attention but can still make time when needed.

Thanks a lot pashnit for making me unhappy with my less than one year old cruiser My plan is to ride this for 2-3 years and then find an equally nice used GT in the current style, again for about 50% of retail. Thank goodness for those that buy BMWs new and take care of them for us second owners .

My first and only modification so far: a pashnit sticker on the back.

Almost got myself the same bike in exactly the same color 2 yrs ago but had to forego cuz of the "hard talk" attitude of the local dealer rep. It was during the rainy season then and I was ready to pay cash up front but the salesrep just refused to entertain giving cash discounts.

At any rate, I got a Honda Pan Euro instead. Anyway, I guess I'll never know what I missed by not buying the Beemer. Enjoy your ride!

Nice ride. When I was choosing, that was one of the three bikes on my short list. In fact, if riding two up wasn't a consideration, I think I'd be riding a 2005 K1200GT. I absolutely loved the smooth power delivery of that K1200 motor and the riding posture was very much like that of my 1977 R100RS that I loved so much. Enjoy and I hope to see you on the road!

Now you better get a Valentine V1 radar detector and an autocom or that bike is going to coast you a few more bucks.

    Nice Bike

That's really a nice bike Rod and I think I tried it on for size @ the SF Car show last year and also another Beemer. Yup, it felt good just sitting on it, I can only imagine what it feels like on the road. For now I'll stick to my scooter, I'm still having a blast w/it!

I agree, the Majesty is an awesome machine.

BTW, nice ride. I wish I could get a close look at it. I'm interested in the drive mechanism.
It is not image or prestige that makes a difference, but true enjoyment of the ride.
