I’ve had Parkfield Colinga Road on my mind for a couple months now. A bit of a haul to get to Parkfield, CA from the Monterey area. And since this is a dirt road over rather steep terrain, I needed dry weather conditions for at least a week prior to my attempt. I knew this weekend would be perfect, clear and warm with temps in the low 90’s predicted for my assault. So I woke up early on this Saturday morning and decided to head to the Parkfield Café for lunch. Only about 150 miles away through some of the most beautiful country CA has to offer. My route there was Hwy 1 south to Carmel Valley road all the way out to Arroyo Seco Rd, to Central Rd, connecting with a short stretch on Hwy 101 south, to Jolon Rd riding past Ft Hunter Ligget, lakes San Antonio and Nacimento, on to San Miguel, and then out Vineyard Canyon Rd. Very nice. By the way, the burger and fries were worth the trip.
