Took the DR-Z all over Humboldt county that day. Many of the places have been talked about here, but one that has not to my knowledge is the town of Shively. In the winter there is a paved goat trail that dead ends in the town, but in summer there is a bridge that connects it with the Avenue of the Giants near pepperwood. There are usually logging trucks on this road so caution is advisable if you want to go zipping too fast around corners. I chose to start at the summer bridge and loop that way.
The road ahead.
In reality a street bike can make it. I hit 45 mph on this section of the road and am not a very good rider.
The road turnes to this............
Where I just came from. The gravel road you see in the right hand side of the photo is where I crossed the bridge and came from.
A couple more shots before closing.
I hope you have enjoyed this report on meeting the Humboldt Hillbilly's Yall come back now ya hear!
