    September in Oz

I took a little ride today through the hills to the coast of Victoria to a place called the 12 Apostles. Also known as the "Shipwreck Coast" because of all the sailing ships that sunk along here early in Australia's settlement. Some info here http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/1park_...y.cfm?park=175

I collected my mate Steve on the way - he rides an old school Norton Commando. We stopped off at a Vineyard to check it out for future reference. It was a magnificient spring day here, approx 20C (approx 70F) , blue sky and no breeze at all.
Here's a few pics. Starts with me and the VFR800.

Through the hills to the coast.

The wreck of the Loch Ard is near here. http://www.heritage.vic.gov.au/page.asp?ID=245

We rode home through the bush on deserted roads. Here's Steve on the Commando when we stopped for a chat. We've been riding bikes through this country since we were teenagers & never get sick of it!

Great roads, great scenery & lots of laughs - a great day out. Cheers Jules.

Thanks for the pics cbrjules. The 12 Apostles are an interesting formation, nothing quite like that along the Cali-coast.

I bet the Snortin' Norton played a road worthy tune through those pea shooters. Steve's bike looks bone stock, it has the air box, rear dampers, chain guard and long stems on the blinkers. *sigh* A proper motorbike.

Those are some wonderful photos, Jules. I am glad to see that spring is bringing out our international pashnit pals as I always enjoy your ride reports and photos. The 12 Apostles are amazing!! Gorgeous!

The VFR is nice and shiney and of course the fastest, cause it's red, but that Norton is truly sweet!! I love the old school bikes. We see them occasionally here and I always hover over them savoring their beauty.

Welcome to the riding season, Jules!! Keep them coming.

    Great pics!

And thanx for the history lesson. Your pics added an extra dynamic to reading about the shipwreck.

    Looks like a great ride!

And what is that large lizard?? (We don't grow 'em quite that large here in NorCal!)

It sounds great without being offensive - he really loves that thing! Here's an older pic of the Commando in action

Meskie glad you enjoyed the pics- here is a couple more along the coast.

    Cheers Jules.
