    Malibu Alps: Canyon Closures

    As of today:

Pacific Coast Highway was reopened Tuesday, but some canyon roads remain closed to through traffic, including Malibu Canyon Road from Civic Center Way to Piuma Road; Las Flores Canyon Road, Carbon Canyon Road, and Tuna Canyon Road between PCH and Saddle Peak Road.

So sad out there, it's smoky here out my office windows, I'm right next to the 101 looking at the SM Mountains.

Even if the roads do open soon, be really careful, as they will accumulate tons of sand, dust and pebbles. Not fun riding right after fires. No brush to keep the dirt off the road.
It is far more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

I drove through Malibu Canyon last night when I got back into town, this hills of course are super charred and barren, but the road looked pretty clean from my vanage point. There was a sign on the side where Mullholand road is that said Road Closed but it wasn't on the actual street.... I may drive around some more later today.

Just got in from a little trail ride though the Santa Monica's. I didn't see any closures and all seems to be business as usual. It's kinda weird though to see where the fire lines were, what got saved, and sadly...what didn't. I've ridden through there many times after fires, and it still kinda boggles the mind...seeing one destroyed and remembering when they rebuilt the one down the street after a different fire.

I was on Mulholland, Piuma, Schueren, Stunt, Tuna, Latigo, Decker, and of course PCH...all are open and ok.

    Peace.

I lean motorcycles over so far in the turns...I've drug the key.

Some of our crew did Julian yesterday and a few roadside landmark houses are not there anymore. I just got back frm a week in Orlando and missed the ride. H.
