    DR 650 farkeling questions...

    I am about to start the process of making the DR 650 more custom to Judy and I. That will involve a Corbin Seat, 4.9 gallon tank, heated grips, and possibly a wind shield. It will also get the lowering treatment with the correct kick stand. My questions are;

    Will the charging system power heated grips and a Tourmaster heated jacket liner and if not, what can I do to up the charging capacity?

    Recomendations for a good skid plate and oil cooler protection?

    This is going to be fun!

    There's an entire thread (and a long one at that) over in ADV Rider devoted to the DR 650. I'm sure there's some good advice there......

    Another good resource that has sections dedicated specifically to the DR is Maximum Suzuki. Lots valuable resources for owners of DR's, Bandits & Katanas. I've gotten some good info for my Bandit, made a great deal for a set of replacement turn signal assemblies, and sold my old Rifle windshield to a member over there. Its well worth your time to check it out.

    I have used this vendor,with good results, he specializes in DR parts and has most if not all of the items you'll need.

    Yo K

    Sort of...our shameless bit of commercialism will be a large screen LCD TV. Better to watch The Christmas Story on ("You'll shoot yer eye out!"). That said the DR just screams "change me" (not that it is not a fine bike as is). There are simply some practical things that will improve it overall with a minimum of fuss. Things that Suzuki would not do as well as after market and I can do and for MUCH less $$$.

    Let me warn you about THAT slippery slope!

    The DR is suppose to support up to 200 watts. As far as I know, there isn't more room on the stator for more windings.

    It will support heated grips easily. What is the power consumption of the vest?

    It's about 6.7 amps (76 watts?)...boy was it tough to actually find this info. Should support the jacket liner and grips with room to spare. Thanks Drew, I was hoping the DR would weigh in.
