Helmet face-shield fogging up in cold weather...tips???

I have a Shoei RF-1000 helmet and my face-shield is fogging up in this cold weather. Will Fog-X (from the makers of Rain-X) work on the plastic face-shield? Or should I try something else? I do have my air vents open, but I guess I'm not driving fast enough for them to do the trick. Any tips??? (holding my breath is the only thing that has worked so far.... )

    Thanks,

    Patrick
I wonder if a snowboard rack would fit on the Triumph???

Can you crack the shield open just a hair, so a little bit of breeze defrosts the inside without freezing your nose?. I've got a Arai that has a system that locks the shield in place a few mm away from the lower seal, and it works.

A light coating of dish soap on the inside of the shield works great and is pretty darn close to being free.

I just dab a little bit onto a paper towel and then kind of "buff it in" to the shield. It does need to reapplied occasionally though.

Or even bar soap, borrowed from the last motel.

-Draw a large "X" across the inside of the shield, buff lightly, and go ride.

Fog City or Pinlock work well for me. The Pinlock will cost you more because you'll either have to replace the visor with a Shoei aftermarket that has the Pinlock pins or drill and install the pins.

Fog City is a stick on that has served me well for 5 years now. Bonus is Fog City sell a 'light sensitive' for changing conditions instantly such as going from bright sunlight to a darkened tunnel.

I have the Shoei and I just leave it open a bit, particularly if I am stopped at a stoplight.
Don't ride if it fogs. Open it. My friend got his fogged up, but rode off anyway, didn't see a curb, and went down.

On the left side of your helmet is an adjustment lever designed to open the visor a tiny crack. That and your favorite anti fog treatment (I use Scott's el cheapo stuff) should work. When things get cold and foggy here I treat once a day...sometimes more than that. Clean visors inside and out are very important too.

I bought this little jar of blue stuff at the bike show a couple years ago. You know the one where they hold your sunglasses over a steaming tea kettle and show you how the glass won't fog up? I must say it works excellent at keeping your sunglasses from fogging up over a steaming tea kettle! I just crack my visor a bit that seems to work best!

Push down on the locking lever and it will pop open just a little.
I have the Shoei pinlock that they gave me at no charge when I called about excessive fogging. You can't make it fog with it on, but... only where the pinlock is and that bugged me a lot. You get a porthole to look out.

Lots of cleaners/anti-fog out there. I use lemon scented pledge to clean the shield and shell. Keeps it easy to clean and fog free.

The face shield on my Scorpion is "fog free" from the factory. You're not supposed to clean it with anything other than a damp cloth. However, I wear glasses and they fog up. Even though the shield doesn't fog too badly, it does develop a slight layer of condensation around the lower edge on the inside of the shield. If you think riding in the rain is a pain trying to get the rain drops off the outside of the shield, try doing the same thing with the droplets on the inside.
