2cents Remove rear tire on a '09 Yamaha VStar 1300

Can you tell me the proper procedure to remove the rear tire from my '09 VStar 1300 Touring model? I would like to take the wheel to the shop where I'm buying the tire. Trying to save a few $s.

I don't think your bike comes equipped with a centerstand.

-Not trying to rain on your parade, but you'll need to find a way to safely support the rest of the bike while the wheel is gone. Do you have a rear-wheel stand or some other way to lift the bike for the wheel R&R?.

If you don't have the proper stand to lift the bike for wheel removal, then you will either need to build or buy said lift or pay the dealer to do the work for you. It may be worth a visit to your local harbor freight as they often have the small MC lifts that may work for that pretty cheap, but you still need to get the instructions and tools to do the job anyways, in which case it may still come out cheaper to have the dealer do the job.
I was always taught to respect my elders, but it keeps getting harder to find one.

Thanks. You're probably right. I'll head to the bike shop and let them do it. I was just thinking about saving some bucks, and taking the wheel to them to install the new rear tire. Without the proper jack, and with my luck, I would probably end up dumping the bike. Thanks for the advice.:
