    Anyone running Pilot Road 3s?

I'm going to need new tires soon. I've been running Pilot Road 2s for the last few years. Has anyone made the switch from 2s to 3s and are you happy with them? How do they perform in heavy rain or wet conditions? Are they sticky enough for canyon riding?

2cents Anyone running Pilot Road 3s?

    JK ~

I was planning on PR3s when I was still in Seatucky - they look like the ultimate conbination for sporty/wet riding.
Unfortunately I'm outta sync on my tire swaps, and I'm back in SoCA, so it looks like it will be late Spring or early Summer before I install a set on the RT.

Dan (CRASH) has burned through a set already and seems pretty impressed with the wear, traction and handling

BTW....if you're shopping online, watch the pricing - it gets kinda scary from site to site

I think I'll just go for it. I want to have tires on and broken in before the winter rain starts.

As good as or better than PR2s in Dry - better than PR2s in wet ... wear is about the same, which compared to anything else I have run is far better. I will be buying more.

But yes .... shop around A LOT for your tires. I can't remember where I bought this set, but I am not loyal when it comes to the way tires are being priced.

I went through one rear ( about 5500 miles ) and the front is almost done. Like them better than the PR2's, they wear a bit more even. Haven't tried them in the rain yet.

Interested to see how your next set does now that you have replaced the marshmallows with real suspension parts. I am around 5k on my rear and it has a LOT more miles left in it. Yours had worn the center sipes out by now and mine are still pretty deep.

One thing I have noticed and it was the same on PR2s is they start to handle a little funny as they wear. I find that my steering gets quicker and the front in dives in harder now than when fresh, but if I go flog it hard through some aggressive corners for a little while, the handling comes back to where is was for a while and then it starts to gradually go back into the fast dive mode again. Go flog it again. I know a few others that notice this as well, but all are on K bikes with the goofy front suspension set up. Not sure how it likes the dual compound set up and my riding style. I got over 7k out of my PR2s and they had more miles in them but the handling just got too funky. This is at least 2500 more than the next best tire (Pirelli Angel STs) I have run life span - I still feel I got more than my moneys worth.
