Always thinking about new bikes, being such a moto ho. The challenge is getting the old kitchen pass and paying for it. I have more payments due on my steed...soooo, guess it will remain my ride for years to come.

    Dream list (not in priority):
    KTM 640 LC4
    BMW R1200GS
    BMW K1200S
    Suzuki DRZ-400S
    KTM 950s Adventure
Honda CRF 450 (with enduro package)
    BMW HP2
And on and on and on...of the desire for new (and old) motorcycles there is no end.

    Re: A Super Super Motard?

BMW has released details of its new off-road model, the HP2, and it looks like they've really gone all-out to make this a real, competitive off-road bike in the same class as KTM's Adventure. BMW states that the design targets for the HP2 were light weight, excellent handling, low center of gravity, and excellent off-road capability.

The HP2 is loosely based on the existing R1200GS model, and uses a slightly uprated version of that bike's 1170cc boxer flat-twin engine. This motor should provide excellent performance when combined with the HP2's claimed 386lb dry weight (claimed 430lb wet).

BMW plans to demonstrate the HP2's off-road prowess through competition in a number of off-road venues throughout the world, including the SCORE Baja 500 and Baja 1000. The HP2 should reach dealerships in Autumn 2005.

Tim, thanks for bringing the pics and article to life. By the time I get up to speed on this computer...I'll prolly be suffering dementia and forget it all.

Maybe some of you dirt bike riders can help me out here. The front forks on this beast look like the inverted type found on the Honda CRF 450. Am I right here?

Sounds like a seriously fun bike. Imagine what Dr Motard could do with this one!! Hey Doc, the sportie bikes would have more trouble out running you on the straights with this one.
