Honda Blackbird XX converted to Street-Legal Quad- pics!

Chatting with Stan today who's down in Odessa, Texas area & was telling me about his Blackbird XX that he convert to a street legal quad. Couldn't pass up posting this one. Very cool. Maybe now that I've posted pics of his bike, we can convince Stan to tell us more about his Quad.

Wife wants to learn to ride. I wanted to do something like that to mine. It would make me feel she was safer. I sold the GS550 the was a perfect learner bike.

Hey Tim. That is slick. Not even a kickstand mod.

How sweet would this be with one of those insane 500hp busas'?
Does this guy have a shop that does these convertions?
I really dig this, I think these things will be screaming around tracks really soon.
Perhaps a new F1 style genre of racing... Ooooo could be cool!!

Re: Honda Blackbird XX converted to Street-Legal Quad- pics!

Hi Guys, and gals, Thanks for the positive replies, not to sure how acceptable my idea is to most bikers. Some have expressed distaste. I am sure some have been quieted by the fact the bike was destroyed within the first 1,000 miles by a squid who looped it into a car and broke the steering stem housing bottom half off.

I started with the engine and broke frame. All else was bought from damaged bikes and repaired and modified. Just to see if I could accomplish what I thought was the best idea, at least for me.

The bike is all 2000 cbr1100xx except the front frame work from a cannondale quad and the rear carrier from a 400ex Honda quad. I have changed the rear shock from stock, which I ran for a while, to a direct link. The factory did not have enough travel for off road. Yes I ran it for two years in the sand hills to prove the durability and handling. Good enough.
Been on a few trips since October when I finished the street conversion.

Did about 1,000 miles with the owners organisation and although I had a fuel regulator failure proved it would run with the big dogs through the hill country at Kerrville, Texas hwy 335,336,337. Really corners like a go cart, just much better brakes and tires than anything else.
I have thought about doing some others, but the law about rebuilding wrecked bikes here will not let you do newer than 2003. But I would rather now that I know what I am doing do a non-wrecked. Even better, New.
Think a Wing with the independent rear trike would be great and have reverse.

Was going to sell this one and do a cbr1000rr with a rear diff. But, after riding it I don't think unless you want to carry someone, it is necessary.
