Thanks for your input...............Tim: You being an older guy, doesn't that jocky style of riding put pressure on your groin, back and neck?
You can look for yourself on the Caltrans site, all are open. Some of the forest service roads up over 8000 ft. might have snow on them due to shadows from all the trees.

Thanks Rod. And, thanks for the website. Cal Trans info is current not forecast info. So I am relying on my fellow Pashnits' experience and wisdom. Our group is your age and older. How about riding with us. We have rooms to share...........Or, come on the 14th when we ride a loop around Sonora.

    Dgmunn,
Sorry I didn't see this till now.
I could not go on that ride or any ride for a while. My wife is fighting cancer now and I won't swing a leg over a bike till she beats this thing. When she needs me to take care of her I will, and I couldn't do that if I'm hurt from some sort of bike accident.

    Thank's again for the invite,

I have more friends who beat cancer than not. This household will be praying for your wife's recovery Rod.......I'm a care-giver too. My divorced daughter moved in with us to help me with her mother; she is a big big help. Until she came I was planning on placing her mother in a convalescent home. I use to work with a Gerald Rounds.

Any news on expected open dates for the passes this year? Guessing with the record snows we've had dates will be much later than the past several years.

    To date, 9June17:
Lassen Loop - closed, park entrances open but plow operations continue, no through traffic.
    Monitor Pass - open
    Ebbetts - closed
    Sonora - closed
    Tioga - closed...

...time to ride the foothills or the coast...

Sonora is now open. Ebbetts is expected to open in early July. They have significant repairs to make on Ebbetts after clearing the snow. I believe I read Lassen is expected to open mid July.
