Western Divide & Kern River Hwy?

Thinking about a run from Los Angeles up to Shaver/Huntington Lake in a couple weeks and I was going to meander up from Bakersfield and use the Kern River Hwy out of Lake Isabella to the Western Divide and continue through to 3 Rivers area. I thought I read here that there was a lot of construction going on somewhere along this route, but darned if I can relocate the thread. So, can anyone speak to the road conditions?

Hwy 178 (Kern Canyon) is open without any serious delay. Can't say about Western Divide. It should be clear of snow but Winter damage repair? I dunno. You might want to ride Hwy 155 instead of 178, MUCH better ride.

Here's another option;

Granite Rd (or 155) to Jack Ranch Rd to Old Stage Rd to Hwy 190 and East to Springville.

Thanks. I agree and never use 178. Granite Rd. to 155 to the Kern River Hwy (Sierra Way?) is my regular path to start my Sierra rides. I may have confused things with a poor memory? Thanks for the alternate route up to Porterville area; I'll use that if there is anything up with the Divide. I've never done Sherman Pass and that may be in the cards too...
