SoCal ride in November
After the great ride last weekend led by MatthewP, the notion of a ride on some sort of semi-regular basis in SoCal seems to have some appeal...
I just wanted to give this concept a "bump" here and offer the suggestion of either the weekend of Nov 15th-16th or 22nd-23rd. And, if I recall correctly a destination of Borrego in San Diego county was suggested? I realize this thread prob'ly ought to be somewhere else, but wanted it to have the best chance of being seen to "get it off the ground". Ed |

Sounds like fun Ed. Nov. 15th is my B-day and Dee and I will be in North Carolina with friends but the next weekend might be good.

Re: SoCal ride in November
I'm interested...let me know the details. I'm in Temecula so I can meet up with you on S2 outside of Warner Springs or anywhere else for that matter.

Re: SoCal ride in November
The only thing about riding Sunday is the land barge parade on 79 and S2 in the early afternoon. It's dirt season in Ocotillo Wells, and the weekenders are all heading home, noon and later. Saturdays are usually better, traffic wise. Either day can be bad however. I usually get around the traffic by getting out EARLY, something that is probably not an option for this ride. I'll check my schedule for the 23rd.

Quote:
Start in Temecula, down Rice and Couser Cyn's, Lilac, then through Valley Center. Continue on Valley Ctr to Bear Valley, east on 78. Through Ramona and then "Old Julian Rd" and back onto 78, 79 north at Santa Ysabel and then right on S2 to S22. Down the "glass elevator" into Borrego Springs, then S3 back through Scissors and up the Banner Grade on 78. Bypass Julian on Wynola Rd, lunch stop where Wynola Rd intersects 79. Then back down the hill, 79 to Mesa Grande, and maybe a lap of Palomar for those so inclined. The only real "if" I can see is that part of that land barge parade might be clogging up 76, too. By no means is it my intent to dictate the route, just trying to come up with something with a variety of scenery and has gas available where it might be needed as well as a lunch stop. I certainly welcome any and all suggestions... Ed |

Re: SoCal ride in November
You might ping Henry Hester -- I think he's got some super-secret backroads around Ramona, rather than taking the 78
