Solvang and Jalama Beach Ride

I had been thinking about taking this ride again for some time and to tell the truth, I’m still thinking about taking this ride again! Dee and I would love to share it with some of our Pashnit friends next time. We started off about 7:30 AM Saturday morning and headed up the 101 toward Santa Barbara under overcast skies and some light rain. After a gas stop in SB we ran on up the 154 and wondered if we picked the right day because there was some thick clouds going up this route . We were rewarded with some clearing so we thought we would celebrate over a hearty breakfast at Cold Spring Tavern.

Mrs. Old Surf Dog had decided this time she was going to sight see and take pictures so we were riding two up.
Here she got a shot of the 154 Hwy Bridge over Stagecoach Rd.

Ok now I have to post the rest on a new post because it won't let me add any more than 5 photos at a time. Maybe someone can tell me why that is happening?

Our stop in Solvang to see the famed motorcycle museum we have heard so much about. Lots of very, very nice cycles. Here are a couple of shots, but we took about $20.00 more if anyone is interested.

Which took us to Jalama County Beach and campground. This is my very favorite place to camp and surf. Really a laid back spot to relax and enjoy life. If you’re going to walk the beach I advise that you bring some lighter fluid to remove the naturally occurring beach tar off your feet.

After that we made our way to Ventura where we met up with my Mom and sisters for some conversation and a snack before heading home. We arrived home at 10:00 with another 380 miles on the Road King and big smiles on our faces.

Tried that already on the way back from Oatman JO. It was kind of fun waving at folks with Dee at the controls. These old knees just can't hang in that position for any length of time. Got to be able to stretch out my legs, as short as they are.

Linda,
Next time we go I will be sure to let fellow Pashnits know. I found the best time to hit Cold Spring Tavern is for breakfast before the crowds arrive. Last time we couldn't even find a place to park.

John Gail and I are in the next time.

Hope the wind isn't blowing for you today like it is here. Gail is doing better so I was going to head to see my mom today, but I will rethink this with the way the wind is blowing.
