Scotland March 30th 2012

Set off for Scotland a little late in the day fri 30-03-12,arrived a little late for the ferry at Cloch to Sandbanks Dunnoon
Never crossed in the dark before hope the key is available for our
overnight stay

Well we stayed on the boat last night rocked to sleep by the lapping waves
and a few beers in Sandbanks.Saved putting the tent up

Weather was ok untill last day .It had been a heatwave as you know the ten days before.
As you may well know Holy Loch was a Submarine Base for America some
time ago ,i remember the dock area but it has all gone now

Bike all loaded and we are off to Mallaig via Fort William
First we will call at Arrochar,a place i stayed at 35 years ago and have never been back .Riding along the A815-A83-A82 up to Tyndrum then through Glen Coe

Petrol not cheap here ,at Sandbanks Holy loch you could only have £20 worth
each ,well onward to Mallaig

It looks like you almost had the place to yourselves without the throngs of tourists.On my last trip to the UK we headed north and toured Scotland for a couple of weeks. Nice scenery when the rain and mist cleared,but the weather sucked most of the time,even though it was supposed to be summer.I'm hoping for better weather next year when I plan on giving it another go and also take in Ireland. This time I will take my Canadian winter weather proofs and look forward to a more comfortable ride.

Cheers Joe Ireland is a great place to tour on a bike,lot's of colour.
We moved on towards Fort William driving straight through to much traffic at times in the town .
