Man, y'all are making me homesick and just plain sick at the same time. I was stationed at Travis from '89 - '95, and can't count the number of times I rode that area; I'd say it still ranks in my personal top 10 roads of all time. At the same time, I notice all the boats by the big rock; not only were there NEVER ANY boats by that rock during my time with it, but the rock was completely out of the water. I used to walk from the bridge down the hill to it, and climb up on it, and just sit there for hours reflecting and looking out over the lake... I miss those days sometimes, simple times make good times...

Dude you ARE living in the best of times now! You live in So Cal, some of the best riding roads around! The mouantians east of SD are great for riding. Go do it now so you will not regret it later |

In '67/68 we used to jump off that rock... Either that, or climb out UNDER the
bridge on the steel beams and drop off into the water, hey, we were young and stupid... You could always drive up there for a weekend  Putt.. Quote:

Palomar (close!), and yes it would be an awesome ride EXCEPT for a lot of problems between the cops and locals and riders who think it's a racetrack... I personally won't ride it anymore because it's so bad.
