I have XM in my car, and the wife has Sirius in hers, and I've had exactly the opposite experience. In 2+ years, I've never had the XM signal drop out on me, while the Sirius unit in her car (her second, the first one burned up) drops in and out constantly.

Sirius definitely has the better sports package, but I love baseball, and being constantly exposed to both, I feel like XM's overall channel lineup is better.

I'm just glad we have a choice between providers (for the moment anyway, unless that darn merger goes through).

Re: XM radio for motorcycles

I have XM in both the car and on the bike. I do experience outages (less than 1/4mile) sometimes in the mountains. a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine was here and we took his Sirius unit with us to do a comparison, and what we found is if the XM went out so did the Sirius. if you look around at the time of the outage you can usually see the cause of the outage(can’t see the sky trees, mountain, etc) we did not find one better than the other in reception.

Now the channel choices is personal, I wish I would have gone with Sirius only because I would like football when I travel.

I run the cheapest Delphi model and it works great, Ram mounted through my autocom system.

Re: XM radio for motorcycles

I've got XM in both cars and the living room theater. I'm pretty sure that, five years ago, I was one of the first people in Fresno to have one. I tossed my FM antenna and haven't looked back since. I didn't even mount the XM antenna on the roof in Mrs. Bassman's van - I just tucked it up on the dash at the base of the windshield. Hasn't dropped out once.

I love my XM!!
