Very nice Jim. Brought up memories of a bicycle ride I once made from Ukiah to Mendo on Comptche-Ukiah Rd many years ago. Back then, there was a short unpaved section which I'd imagine is paved now.

I felt a bit of Central Valley Crud wash away as my eyes feasted on what many towns could and should look like in California. Instead they are visually polluted jumbles of sameness, dolloped with neon poison.

Nice to see the beast getting a bit dirty and exploring some beautiful country. Cool abstracts to by the way. Sounds like you had fun getting away for a bit and letting the senses wander for a while.

I rode down the ridge to Flynn Creek where the road meets 128. It was full of mudded clay and challenging ruts. Then I took a diversion that turned out to be a private logging extension. The road was more open, but the gravel on it was like marbles from hell. I reached a locked gate after 2 miles. There was the 4X4 driver, also having made the same mistake. We turned around to retrace.

I met a guy from Canada last November at "The Race Track" in Death Valley. He was in a very rough Land Cruiser, without many original parts on the rig, and he seemed to have the right attitude............
