Re: 1,000,000 trees!

I am sure there are regulations about trees. A growing tree can crack your neighbor's house.

A million trees? What's the big deal? Hell I harvest more than a million trees a year on my ranch (and plant 1,000,000 more).

Re: 1,000,000 trees!

Me thinks some have missed the point. Well I don't really think you missed the point I think you just like to ridicule the efforts to improve our planet.
But just can case you really did miss the point I'll explain the program to you.
These trees were planed by the distributors and customers of Shaklee. Each of whom took action to enable a tree to be planted.
These trees are not planed for commercial purposes and there is no intent to cut them down. I won't go into the science of trees here because those that thing this is a good idea already know it, and those who ridicule don't care.
I am proud of what we accomplished and will continue to work towards the 7 million tree mark.
btw - did you guys even watch the video to hear from a Nobel Peace Prize winner?

Re: 1,000,000 trees!

So, what, if anything, is wrong with using trees as they were meant to be used; as lumber for housing, firewood, baseball bats, gunstocks, pianos, guitars, etc.?
Trees are a crop much like corn or carrots, not a diety to be worshiped.

While I don't see where anyone is ridiculing Shaklee's laudable tree-planting efforts, it's interesting to see how the media is (again) falling all over themselves for another idea that they see as being "Eco-friendly" or PC.

Why then, have most of the other long-established tree-planting organizations been traditionally vilified by the press for the last few decades?....
When I was still working for G-P, my employer and a few others (like Weyerhaeuser, Boise Cascade, the Oregon/Washington State Forestry departments, & cetera) would each plant that many seedlings in a month (lotsa hoedads ).
