Re: I need custom-fitted ear plugs...
I tried several different disposable foam plugs, but never liked them. I also tried two different sets of custom molded plugs, which were somewhat better but not as easy to keep in my ears while putting my helmet on.
Then, a friend of mine gave me a pair of these, and I'll never wear anything else again. I can wear them for (up to) about 5-7 days (all day), then toss 'em. I don't know if they're quite as effective as a good set of custom plugs, but as someone who found foam plugs uncomfortable for more than a couple of hours, they're terrific... and while each "disc" is supposed to be used for one ear, I've found that cutting them in half and making two plugs out of one disc works very well (for me).

I ended up going with custom silicone ones, but got talked into getting a mechanical baffle thingy that is supposed to allow you to hear until a loud sound, like a gunshot for instance, causes them to close up. They didn't work for wind noise inside my skid lid very well, until I used some silicone to seal them off. Go for just the solid ones, they will be a lot cheaper, and more effective. That aside, I love em! ![]() I'm also told that if you go to a well equipped sporting goods store, they can make them up for you also, for a lot less $$$, but I ended up going to the ear specialist ($130.00).
