Less than 2 weeks to go

Some of you will be aware of the trip we are about to embark on as we've posted several threads about it on here in the past few months.

Its now less than two weeks before we fly out to Atlanta to start our trip. Below is a link to our google map showing our latest route which I think is pretty much the final version other than any minor changes we might make along the way. We are keen to meet up with any of you that might be along our route, it'd be great to ride with some of you and maybe share a coffee, drink or meal and a few storys. Please feel free to either post here or PM us with your contact details. We're hoping to post regularly along the way and maybe post some videos on youtube as well so hopefully you'll be able to keep track of us as we progress across the country.

We're looking forward to a great time and hope to see some of you soon.

Re: Less than 2 weeks to go

Looks like a fair bit of ridin' ahead of you, Allan... when you get out to the San Luis Obispo area, if I can get the time off I might head up that way and say hi.

I realize the recent large earthquakes were quite a distance away (and on another island, as well) but was wondering if they were felt in your area?

Hi Ed, thanks for the interest, it'd be great to catch up with you when we get to your part of the country. It was quite a quake down in Christchurch, apparently it was felt as far north as New Plymouth which is half way up the north island, we never felt a thing here in Auckland.

So, Allan- how's the trip progressing? Do I understand correctly that you will be riding from San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles on Oct 11th?

Re: Less than 2 weeks to go

just a tip for you as you head south on 101 to catch PCH to los angeles.

stay on 101 S and exit las posas (city of camarillo) and turn right. this will take you to PCH with all the city traffic and lights through oxnard.

Re: Less than 2 weeks to go

After your nights stay In San Luis Opispo may I suggest a detour off Hwy 1 about 10 miles south of Lompoc. You'll see a road on the right called Jalama Rd. This takes you to Jalama County beach. The road is a joy to ride and the views are great and it's only 14 miles. The entry is free if you are going to the store/restaurant and they serve up a great hamburger! If it's too early for lunch it's still worth the ride. If you get hungry for lunch in Santa Barbara ride out onto Sterns Wharf (parking is free for motorcycles) and there is some excellent seafood on the wharf.
