Australian DUI Ad Campaign

This is graphic but a great reminder.

Warning - This video contains some very graphic material.

Great Aussie Ad Campaign!

This is perhaps one of the most intense commercials that I've ever seen and damn well made. I think that Australia should be complimented on having the guts to "tell it like it is" and get this campaign out to all of its licensed drivers and to air it on TV ... it is very moving and very realistic … it has a very strong impact.

Pass it along to all of your friends.

Very effective, and not a bit over-hyped IMO...having worked in EMS as a first responder for seven years I can attest to the carnage caused by drunk drivers.

we can only all hope and keeep our eyes out and keep out of there way on the roads

Too Graphic? I think not! DWI is a serious crime. Any conviction of DWI should result in real jail time. If I had my way, any drunk driver that killed someone would be executed.

I've seen the individual TV advertisements from that compilation hundreds of times, but still find it a chilling (and timely) reminder for all.

Stunningly powerful. Brought tears to my eyes. I can feel the pain the survivors are suffering and will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

I quit drinking over 18 years ago. Prior to that, I could easily have been one of those who cause this unspeakable horror. Quitting was the best decision for me, and I've never regretted doing so.

If you do drink, please do not drive, even if you've only had one. Otherwise, your luck will eventually run out.

It states in the video that drunk driving deaths are down over half since the campaign began. That is a substantial reduction but zero drunk driving deaths would be far more acceptable

I agree that DUI deaths should be dealt with severely but I don't believe that if your son or daughter was involved in a fatal collision whether or not it was actually their fault and happened to blow a .08 after a drink with dinner, that you would want to see them executed. In reality there are varying degrees of culpability but in the laws eyes if you have been drinking and are involved in a crash even if it wasn't caused by you. They now have their scapegoat.

I think many of us have been there John. I remember my Dad being pulled over in the 60's when he was weaving all over the highway and the cop telling him "go straight home Mr. Franklin." I myself have been pulled over when I was young and told to have my friend drive and sent on my way. Sometimes with age and responsibility comes wisdom. Sometimes.
