the official when are the Sierra passes going to open 2012 *UPDATES pg4* - Page 2

on the 5 pm news tonight march 13 2012 donner pass has gotten a good 6 inches of new snow. and there is a good 4 - 5 days of more to come.

so i would say the passes (hwy 4, 120, 108) are going to be closed a bit longer than thought a week back.

but at least is is a heavy wet stuff..the think that makes drinking water for the valley. and stolen by lost angles so they can hose down a street.

No, it's just so they can keep all their pools full.

All winter long it was so nice...great for riding. But I kept saying "what if the season is just changing.....we're going to have a winter.....it'll just come later than normal?" And here we are in mid March with all the snow.

And the next big question......what's that mean for our vacation to southwest Colorado in late May?

Judging by the slushiness of what fell thru Friday, it won't keep long. Someone on the chair lift called it "mashed potatoes." There were several spots where you could ski right from the fresh powder into a deep puddle.

Any updates on the passes? I've gotta think that the last couple days of 90 degrees plus in the valley have kick-started the melt up there.
