Motorcycle-Like Sound Generator?
When driving I often hear, especially those bikes that are lane splitting, an approaching high pitched sound of a sport bike or the deep rumble of a cruiser. Maybe I can not see the bike - but I look out for it as I know it is approaching.
My bikes are relatively quiet - which I like most of the time - but not when I am around slow moving traffic that may quickly pull into my space - especially if I have limited space to maneuver or I am not expecting them. During these times I wish that I had a 'noisy' bike. Can anyone point me to a speaker system that I can fit on my bike to make me sound like a 'noisy' motorcycle at the push of a button? Thanks. |

Re: Motorcycle-Like Sound Generator?
Don't rely on noise to make others see you. Loud Pipes Don't Save Lives ... riding skill does that.

Don't know about loud motorcycle sounds but here's one gaget on the market for cars.

Re: Motorcycle-Like Sound Generator?
I rarely split lanes. When I do traffic is at a near stop or stop. I put on my emergency flashers and do rev my engine a bit as I approach a car. I try to get their attention & see them look in the mirror.
My pipes are not real loud. But have a growl when reved. I do it politley!!! Most often people will pull as much over as space allows. I give a head nod for TY as no way am I going thru there one handed! In general if traffic is so bad, I usually opt to go a different route & get the heck out of there or grit my teeth & be patient. One more reason I love my GPS. My bike is big & the last thing I want to do is sideswipe a car or mirror! I also don't like riding on the lines since they have deep grooved stripes & the "Bots Dots". No need to put yourself in any more jeopardy than needed. Since I've become a rider, my patience has increased intensely. I've had the begeezus scared out of me by riders zooming thru traffic. I'm happy to pull over & give them room as needed. |

I use to put playing cards in my spokes, but we had clothes pins back then so that may be a problem these days ...
![]() Actually I kinda agree with most others. I don't think they can hear you over the music regardless of what the "loud pipes save lives" believers think. |

Lane splitting is illegal in BC. I still like my full Yoshi system.
