Portland to Bay area on dirt/gravel?

I need to get by ktm 690 to Oakland and I can truck it down there or ride it. But I need to do it in the next few days. If I do ride it, some dual sport roads would be ideal. It's a long distance to cover entirely by logging/forest roads, but it would be cool to try and do the majority this way. I realized that Pashnit is all about smooth, twisty pavement and usually that's the way I travel. But maybe there's some dirt guys out there who have done this.

Or, anyone trucking to Oakland in the next few days who has room for a bike, give me a holler. Tom 360-921-7055

LOL You obviously haven't been on some of California's finest paved(???) roads LOL

You might look into some forest service maps although a lot of the fire roads are gated.

You might also want to post on AdvRiders.com

The Cali roads have gone to hell. And the few good ones are so heavily patrolled, it's impossible to let loose. Time to go back to the track.

My favorite are some of those hidden gems up by Alice's.

I almost forgot. My dual sport trip will no longer be made on my new KTM. My first ride ended by trucking it home after it died from a unknown fuel issue. The diagnostic code is saying fuel pump. -What a piece of crap!
