Top 15 motorcycle roads in the U.S.

It seems some viewers were in disagreement with the CNN list of 10 best motorcycle roads in the U.S. I located a list published by the Southern California Motorcycling Association of the "Best 15 U.S. Motorcycle Road Challenge." I noticed some of the roads are found on both lists.

1.U.S. 212 & WY 296, Beartooth Pass Highway and Chief Joseph Highway, RedLodge, MT to north of Cody WY* http://www.beartoothhighway.com
http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/67...Mountains.html
2. California 1, Pacific Coast Highway, Monterey to Morro Bay** http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Hwy1BigSur.htm
3. U.S.12, Lolo Pass, Lewiston, Idaho to Lolo, Montana http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/18...Lolo-Pass.html
4. "Cherohala Skyway" & "Tail of the Dragon", TellicoPlains, TN to Deal's Gap to Chilhowee, NC* www.tailofthedragon.com
5. Going to the Sun Road, Glacier National Park, Montana. http://motorcycleroads.com/75/353/Mo...-Sun-Road.html
6. U.S. 550, "Million Dollar Highway", Montrose to Durango, Colorado http://www.motorcycleroads.us/roads/co_us550.html
7. Blue Ridge Parkway, Any continuous 150 mile segment http://www.blueridgeparkway.org
8. Washington 20, Concrete to Omak http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/63...gton-Pass.html
9. Virginia 16, "Back of the Dragon", Tazewell to Marion www.backofthedragon.com
10. Ranch Roads 335, 336 and 337, "The Twisted Sisters" or "TheTriple 3", Texas*** http://www.hillcountrycruising.com/the3s.html
11. U.S. 16A, Custer to Mt. Rushmore and then to Keystone, South Dakota**** http://www.motorcycleroads.us/roads/sd_us16a.html
12. Vermont 100, Stamford to Waterbury http://www.touringdepot.com/mcvermont.html
13. U.S.191, Springerville to Three Way, Arizona http://www.motorcycleroads.us/roads/az_us191.html
14. Utah 12, Torrey to Bryce Canyon Turnoff http://www.scenicbyway12.com
15. U.S. 50, "The Loneliness Road in America", Ely to Carson City,Nevada http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/37...n-America.html

*Theseroads are combined as a single "challenge unit" and all must beridden
**Southbound has the advantage of putting the ocean and scenic pull-offs on theright
*** To complete this challenge unit we suggest 335 south to Camp Wood, 337 eastto Leaky, 336 north to Highway 41, Highway 41 east to US 83, US 83 south backto Leaky, 337 east to Medina. Or the same roads in the opposite direction.
****We strongly recommend taking this road east from Custer to Mt. Rushmore forthe awesome views of the monument through the tunnels.

Don't know about the entire US, but Bonetti is the best road in California, hands down.

Although I have not had the opportunity to ride this yet, this is on my short list:

CA Hwy 36, Red Bluff West to Hwy 101 – 143 miles

It is so cool to see this list and to know I've been on the majority of them.

Though it is short, Rossi's Driveway deserves hon. Mention.

Arkansas Highway 7 is brilliant

Easily as good as anything in the Texas Hill Country

The redrock scenery on CO-144 is almost surreal

Right here.

http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/BonettiRd.htm

It connects Mormon Emigrant Trail to North-South road. It has everything that takes a road from good to truly legendary.

1-lane
Beyond ultra-twisty
Middle of nowhere
Less than zero traffic
Narrow
Bumpy
Covered with rocks and forest litter
Bushes and trees growing into the road
Stunning vistas
GOATY!

One ride, someone said he thought cannibal pygmies would jump out of the bushes and get us, it's that remote. Sometimes it is hard to tell where the road actually is, it's so covered with forest litter.

If you lined up California roads in order of goodness, with Central valley I-5 being on the bad side, Bonetti would be in the top tenth of the top 1%. There are few roads that come close to its glorious awesomeness.

Bonetti!

Thanks for the tip on Bonetti Rd!
I've blown right past it several times and had never heard of it before.

It's also cool to see this list, know I've been on a bunch of them and I still have a bunch left to go!
