Re: Il Giro d'Italia a la Guzzi

Thanks Will, for another great ride report. You have photos of two places we missed in May, the Greek temple in Paestum we passed because it had been raining most of the day and we wanted to get to our hotel in Maratea. The Parko Nazionale d' Abruzzo was also in our plans, but we ran out of time and had to hurry back to Rome to return the bike before flying home. I need to learn to allow more time, when I returned home I found that my son had everything in order in our orchards and I could have easily stayed another week. After looking at your photos, Nancy's solution was simple, "we just have to go back".

Same here as I missed the old part of Matera.

Looking on the web, there appears to be some neat hotels carved from stone.

I'll hafta get back someday

Matera is a very fascinating city with history, they claim, back to 8000 B.C. We visited Matera with the tour group but came back and stayed there a week later when we were on the bike. I found a review for the "Fra I Sassy Residence" on the internet and we booked a room in a cave. I hope this attached link will take you to a photo of the room that I posted here on Pashnit.
