Re: HELP...Who has recently ridden Leesville Ladoga Rd????

I have a regular ride route that goes through that area to Stonyford and then on to Willows for lunch. When I originally mapped it out, I planned on going up over Leesville Lodaga. I checked around with some local folks and found out that portions of it are not paved. This was 2 years ago now so things may have changed.

Thanks Jeff, that's pretty much what i figured. I was over that route several years ago and it was pretty rough and it was dark. I said never again, but have learned never say never...

Re: HELP...Who has recently ridden Leesville Ladoga Rd????

I did it on my ST1100 last spring, and it was more goat than I bargained for on the top-heavy bike. Long stretches of it are unpaved - washboardy but rideable - but the section that takes you up and over the hills was quite rough. Full sections were gone/washed out, and pot holes big enough to swallow the bike. At the time I said I'd be back with my SV650 to better enjoy it, but every time I'm in the area I find myself turning onto the Sites-Lodoga Rd instead.

Re: HELP...Who has recently ridden Leesville Ladoga Rd????

Thanks Maximo
We did skip it on our way south and stuck to the "boring and hypnotic" I5. The reward...getting home early enough to swim. Ahhhhh...

Next time...

Re: HELP...Who has recently ridden Leesville Ladoga Rd????

This is a nice little detour off of I5 nearby that gets the nice parts of the area, but misses the rougher sections.

This is particularly worthy in the winter/spring when the greenery and wildflowers are framed with the snowy peaks of the coastal range, often capped with cumulus clouds.
