Question Mark Ever wanted to meet an Aussie ... or 2?

G'day all
We are 2x Aussies celebrating 2x 50th birthdays in August by exploring some of the many great roads in the US on 2 x 2wheels.

We have had some really friendly, helpful suggestions and offers from a few Pashnit members so far and decided that as part of our plan for this trip was to meet as many of the "locals" as possible - (and stay in as few Hotels as possible) was to "put it out there" and see what response we get - coz ya never know till you ask right ...

Happy to rent/barter/trade/or throw a few shrimp on the Barbie or even share some Australian Wine/Beers with anyone willing to put us up for a night or two anywhere on our trip through NM/AZ/SoCal/Central/NorCal or any where in that general area.

Even if you don't have space for us we'd still like to hear from local riders in the area as to their favourite/bar/cafe... or importantly... road to ride or a favourite B&B/Rural pub with reasonable prices, a comfy bed and bike friendly management with a great road to and from it ...if that's not asking too much

Dates and locations (so far....)

We fly out of Perth via NZ to Hawaii tomorrow night (Aug 1) and spend a few days there for Julie's 50th (BNB near Hanauma Bay)
then fly out to LAX on Aug 4 for 2 nights in Dallas at a BNB waiting fot the shop to open on Tuesday August 7 pick up our bikes
6 hour ride to Amarillo for night of Aug 7 (booked in to Holiday Inn - got a good write up on Trip Advisor and couldn't find a B&B but happy to take suggestions)
4-5 hour ride to Santa Fe for a night on Aug 8th (staying in a BnB)
5-6 hours ride to Hannigans Meadow Lodge just outside Alpine Az. (thanks for the suggestion from Bill - Sclywag !) on Aug 9
then on to Phoenix via Showlow the day of the 10th
Stopping in Phoenix for 3 nights (BnB) Aug 10/11/12.- Our Daughter (Emma) is driving up to meet us from San Diego on 11th
San Diego Aug 13/14 - not confirmed anywhere yet -

After Emma flies back to Canada from San Diego on Aug 15th we are very flexible in our travel plans -i.e (we don't have any yet )

We have a few places we'd like to tick off (Santa Barbera, PCH and detours inland up Nacimento road- (thanks Crash), Half Moon Bay, San Fran, Alice's Restaurant, Yosemite, Sierra Nevadas, Big Bear) but no particular order, route or date in mind except that we have to be back in LA to fly out on the 30th of August....

We have a few loose offers from other riders via Pashnit and other forums to catch up for a drink/BBQ/Ride in Greater S.F. area but will confirm when we get closer ......

So any hosting offers, travel routes or suggestions of must see places/roads in your local area of California/Arizona gratefully accepted and we are more than happy to reciprocate the experience if you ever travel to our part of "Down Under"

Cheers

Made it to Hawaii... at the moment body says it 6pm in Perth on Thursday about 29 hours after we left ... But we got here and it is Wednesday about 3 hours after we left in "adjusted" local time .... So glad we have a couple of days to adjust the body clock in paradise before we pick up the bikes in Dallas.

Keep on posting your location as your journey progresses.

Once you get closer to (local) Pashnites you will probably get more feedback, local info and possibly invites for overnight accommodations.

Enjoy your ride (once it starts).

Meanwhile try to suffer through your time in Hawaii.

I am game for hosting a couple of Aussies! We are located just outside Fresno and fairly close to Yosemite and Kings Canyon NPs. Make it here before the 29th, as on the 30th we are heading out to tour the Soutwests National parks on the 30th. We do know how to drink beer, margaritas and BBQ fish and red meat.

Re: Ever wanted to meet an Aussie ... or 2?

If you stretch "Nor Cal" up into Oregon, I'd put you up, throw beer on ice and steak on the grill, and do some riding! If you can't get up quite as far as Eugene, PM me for some suggestions on routes if you wanted to sneak into Oregon far enough to say you did it.

Enjoy your trip!

Sounds like a great trip! If you would like to spend a night or two in Monterey (or more!) we would love to have you. Happy Birthdays! My wife and I recently reached the combined century mark ourselves.
