Re: Graveyards
At the dead-end of one segment of Meiss Road in southeastern Sacramento County, there's an old graveyard where you can find some of the more influential people of mid-19th Century Sloughhouse and Elk Grove. The entire property is fenced fairly well with 6' chain link topped with barbed wire, but it is possible to obtain (through proper channels) the combination to the lock on the gate. This is the best graveyard I've visited so far.

Cuffy's Cove Cemetery, a couple miles north of Elk, on the north coast. The biggest part is the Catholic cemetery, then there's the smaller community cemetery.

Re: Graveyards
Cuffy's is gorgeous, as is the surrounding coastline. What a magnificent place to be laid to rest.
As long as one fits into the three categories allowed: Catholic...Druid...Other. |

Re: Graveyards
On Tuesday, I walked through a corn field to reach a semi-secret cemetery in the Delta. Most of my pictures were bad, so I'll just post a few of the semi-passable shots.
They've done some restoration out here lately (although you can't tell until you get inside the perimeter). A few years ago, the forces of nature and human vandals reportedly caused some of the graves to open and all of the original wooden markers to be badly damaged and possibly stolen. I ask that if you know where this is that you please not post the location here. It isn't some kind of top secret, but it's not common knowledge outside of the immediate area either. ![]() Dye died ![]() Tyler, et al ![]() Et al, no Tyler ![]() Sarah ![]() CSD-1 .

Re: Graveyards
I saw the Druid gate - is it really a Druid cemetery? I found a reference to Druid headstones - will have to check that out.

Re: Graveyards
Kurt - I like those first two from the Delta cemetery-that-shall-remain-unnamed. Nice patterns and lines in the concrete borders.

Re: Graveyards
Thanks, Bonnie. Concrete, dirt, corn, and the dead. Rust never sleeps.

Re: Graveyards
Stayed roughly in my own backyard this time. Here's a snap from my iPhone; I'll post some from the Nikon later if there are any semi-keepers.
She's really buried there; it's not only a historical marker. .
