Re: Pashnit rider "Scarman" is down.
Hi Everyone:
This is Mrs. Scarman. Thanks so much for all of your kind words, support and prayers. I just came home from the hospital to take a quick break. Dave is doing okay. He was in an accident Sat. a.m. not sure what happened but he went down and the bike hit a fence post. We don't think he did, but aren't sure. His spleen ruptured and he lost 60% of his blood due to internal bleeding. Fortunately, the Sky Life helicopter picked him up and got him to the trauma center at UMC very quickly. He lost his spleen and a small portion of his pancreas. He has no broken bones, brain or spinal problems. EVERYONE - wear your gear. The docs and nurses are amazed that he is in such good shape considering the accident. He has a couple of small abrasions on one forearm and one shin. He had a second surgery this morning to check for bleeding and close the 10" incision down his belly. Gives new meaning to the name Scarman! One more for his collection, I guess. Please keep him in your prayers as he is still in critical condition and on a ventilator. They are hoping to remove the vent tomorrow if all goes well. He will be in the hospital for another week or so barring complications. He probably won't be riding any time soon! We are hoping the bike can be fixed - damage appears to be cosmetic only (trashed plastic). He is bummed that he can't go on the Sequoia ride this weekend. Me, too - I was looking forward to meet all of you that he talks so much about. I am keeping Larry (Jester) updated daily on Dave's progress. Feel free to respond to this thread and I will read and update as time allows. Again, thank you for your support. It was really encouraging to see all of your posts and how many friends he has. Mrs. Scarman (Jennifer)

Re: Pashnit rider "Scarman" is down.
Jennifer, thank you so much for taking a moment to let us know how you and Dave are doing. It's good to hear Dave's condition is stable and that it will only be a few days for the initial healing. Once Dave can have visitors, I think the folks near Fresno would love to stop by. But only when Dave is ready for company. If there is anything the folks from Pashnit can do to help you with anything, just say the word. We're a resourceful and generous bunch and would be only too pleased to lend a hand.
Hang in there for a bit longer and let Dave know we're thinking of you and your family while Dave heals up! Gary |

Jennifer,
Glad to hear Dave is doing better, I will keep him in my thoughts and will be up to see him as soon as he's ready to take on visitors. Please give him my best. Bryan (UFO_ST)
