Beautiful RR Stan! I've been through some of the areas you went to but would love to check out the rest, especially the old buildings. Thanks for sharing!

Great RR!! What awesome pictures too! We sure do have years worth of exploring
to do around here. Wow, we'll definately have to get up that way for a ride! Would be
better if my bike could be outfitted with some knobbies though! Very interesting write up Stan! I really enjoyed it!

Re: Moto camping at Mono Lake

Hey, thanks for all the nice comments. I had a lot of fun putting the RR together, it helps me remember the ride and get more enjoyment out of it, it went by too fast!

There were a lot of minor details I neglected to mention. After I paid the entrance fee at the west entrance on 120 I pulled over to use the restrooms at the roadside area. A lot of the people there are locals that have been to the park before, but there are always a lot of people that you can tell are from outside the area and you can sense their excitement at what they are doing. That's part of the reason I always gas up at Crane Flat, there's kind of a buzz from people, their finally there after their long drive from the midwest or wherever they are from, even Europe or Asia.

Here's a writeup about the Log Cabin Mine on a ghost towning site. There are several sites about ghost towns and whatnot in California and Nevada that are good raw material for trip planning. The authors are generally evasive about specific directions but if you know the region you can infer the loation of many of the places.

Nice Ride Report and pics. Especially like ride/camping reports from fellow KLR's.

Really nice report, Stan! Thanks for taking the time to post it up for us. Love the east side, but don't get there so often now that we're farther north. This definitely makes me miss it!
