My bike now thinks it's a canoe - fording in the Cotswolds, England

I took a ride around the Cotswolds today and checked out a site at Shilton where there's a large ford.

It's a hugely popular spot in the summer for overheating children and family picnics

I just HAD to have a go...

I may mount the camera a little higher next time.

In case you're wondering what fords are for... They used to be used by horse and cart owners to cool down the metal bands on the wheels and prevent them expanding and falling off in hot weather. A famous example of exactly this activity is Constable's The Hay Wain.

Good fun Stephen.
You were only 20 minutes from my place.
When I had my 1200RT, I nipped down to Shilton and managed to park the bike on the bridge.......

Safe riding.

Never heard of people having to cool down there wagon wheels around here and I'm pretty sure it gets a might hotter in the deserts of the southwest here. Wonder how they solved that problem back in the day here? Nice video by the way. I was a little disappointed that I didn't see any big lunkers swimming around in the shallows!

That looked so fun! I love the underwater angle - there was a bit of suspense when the engine noise dropped and you cut to a different view. Glad to see it had a happy ending

The real suspense came a day later when somebody asked if had been worried about 'hydrolock' caused by swamping the air intake snorkel.

???

Went potty on Google but STILL can't find the intake on my bike <sigh>.

I guess I was lucky this time eh?

agree with Dirty Girl... I was waiting for a bit of a gurgling noise to happen...

Here's a video showing you where your snorkel is & how to get to it...

& in case you need it ~ here they are removing the body panels... http://youtu.be/2UHU4ZQ2C_Q
Cheers!!
