Inflatable Helmet

I was talking to someone on a ride yesterday and the inflatable helmet came up in conversation and then I just saw a link to an article this morning on a friend's FB wall! Thought I'd share for your reading pleasure:

http://whatsnext.blogs.cnn.com/2012/...e-bike-helmet/

My personal opinion, what about your face/eyes? Doesn't look like it provides much protection for that? For me personally, I like protection from the elements (i.e. wind, sun, rain, bugs, etc.) that a full-face helmet provides. Plus the price tag of $600 seems just a wee bit pricey!

Don't think I'll be trading my full-face in any time soon... but it is cool to see the technology and ideas that people are coming up with!

Re: Inflatable Helmet

I also saw that. Talk about Bubble Head! I'm keeping my full faced for sure. Donna made a comment that they were more for Bicycles.....

Re: Inflatable Helmet

Many years ago, an unfortunate evening of ice skating sent me to Emergency with a head injury (yes, it probably explains a few things to those that know me ). Anyway...I suppose it could've helped then and kept my neck warm at the same time And, I just saw a nice young racer hit the tarmac on his (pedal) bike. He hit pretty hard, as I heard the thump of his fall from 50 feet away. He probably could have used it (actually, his head was mostly ok, but his torso suffered a bit from the resulting road rash of unclad skin rubbing along asphalt ) Do they make a complete body suit? That would be useful.

Happy Turn Re: Inflatable Helmet

as one who has put many a mile under me on both mt and road bicycles.
i can say this is a fail to americans on there bikes.

now my friend gary had this problem on endowing his mt bike all the time.
only once got hurt and it was his collar bone and he did this at the spider lake dam on the rubicon jeep trail.

and once he got taken to the emg for head trauma from endowing his skinny tired street bicycle.

so maybe he could use this item.

Re: Inflatable Helmet

I have a full face helmet that I look at every day and it has road rash all over the face and visor that reminds me of why we ware a full face. The person that was occupying the helmet at the above described moment the only thing there face suffered was a black eye so yes I am with you Tyler with the protection of the full face.
