Thanks Gents. I've gone over the basic trip and you're right, we'll hit some of the highlights in Arizona along with the parks and then head off the beaten path. We'll be revisiting Carlsbad and the caves. An unbelievable treasure of a park!! We'll be adding Northern Cal for the start of the trip.

By all means, find what's left of the old '66, along the way no doubt you will bounce around and through some great roads to lots of stuff. We are way lucky in this country to have so many places that deserve, and need, to be seen! I can remember the old HWY 66 from its glory days as 'THE' road America route, saw it from one end to the other just before the new interstates cut it to shreds and forever changed how Americans travel. The suggestion about the Arizona leg for photo op's makes a lot of sense, you are within 500 miles of dozens of spectacular places to see and things to do. If you happen to be in the Sacramento area when any Wed. rolls by, come join the Old Farts for brealfast and we'll ride out with you for a ways to a picnic lunch somewhere on your path.
