Another pet project, to take some of the long-existing webpages on the CA Moto Roads and completely revamp them.
I was called by a reporter the other day asking about the 800 foot shaft they're working on digging into the mine to create a new venue for tourists & starting working on upgrading the page. (I shot these pics actually back in 2004 when VIA magazine asked if I'd do a photo shoot of the house for an article they were working on. None of my pics made the cut for that article, but quite a few turned out very well!) They are getting sued (state parks I think) of course by enviromental groups and so that's delaying the Underground Tunnel Project as it's called. So... Almost all new photography of the mine added, plus need to finish revamping the text flow and sound. Definitely can tell the evolution of my writing style from several years ago. Plus added in all new maps & satellite maps. Handy! Neat place to visit in the California Foothills - lil town of Grass Valley. http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Empire.htm

Getting there...
![]() ![]() In the satellite pic, at left is a long rectangle, that's the reflecting pool, near that are two circles - those are the twin fountains in 1st pic above directly in front of the house. At center is the remaining mine buildings. I was wondering if I'd be able to see the construction site where they are sinking the 800 ft shaft into the hillside to get to the main shaft, but can't make anything out. ![]()
