Lets Eat If you could test ride a BMW, which one?

Seriously. If you could pick any one (new '07), even take it out for a couple days. Which one & why. I was thinking whatever the latest hardware would be.

I was imagining the BMW K1200S as it's probably most similar to my Hayabusa, and 167 hp.

Other one that's really unusual is the new K1200R. Might be interesting to take something like this for a ride for a couple days. Gotta admit, it felt strange to sit on at the Moto Show, but regardless, just really a unique looking bike.

hi tim
take the K12S, it looks one mean s.o.a.b. on the tv ads here in oz. and having 167 hp not to bad either, not as fast as your busa are they?sorry but the K12R doesnt do much for me.it would be a nightmare to keep clean.not getting rid of that neat looking busa are you? it would look brilliant sitting in the lounge room(the busa that is ).

I would like a ride on that outrageously expensive HP2 enduro thing. It looks like a real scream to ride. Ideal test route would include Bonneville salt flats.

Tim:

If you did not take the K1200s, Here are my recommendations in decending order. 1st, test the R1200R. I hear the twin power and torque down low is very nice.

2nd, the K1200GT which is their flagship sport touring machine with 152hp. The K1200GT is close to $19K. 3rd,

R1200RT (but I still don't understand why they don't offer that beautiful red color that's in their brochure!)

Eat up the miles, lots of storage, plenty of HP (for *MY* tastes)

1200S for sport bike
1200GT as a blend between the other 2

R1200R for sure. Possibly the K1200R just to see. Maybe one of the 800 models. And the enduro one just to say I did, if I didn't get a nosebleed from the seat height!

I think I would go with the 1200GT too. Looks to be a real conservative and slow moving bike.

Re: If you could test ride a BMW, which one?

Tim,

Definitely try the K1200S if you want power similar to your busa. The R1200R is a great bike with lots of torque, but it will feel like a toy compared to the K1200S.

Got to ride the R1200R for an afternoon with my co-worker Chuck who's doing a review for the SF Chronicle (not published yet). Here's a photo I took of Chuck for the review :

And my bike (04 R1150R) next to it :

Although the power was enticing, I think I'll keep my 1150. The K1200S however could possibly be my next bike.

BTW, if you want some pics of you on the bike, drop me a pm. Would be fun!

K1200R Sport. The quicker handling of the K12R with a half fairing. Very nice and will probably be a great sport-tourer.
